The US Post Office built in 1916, now adjacent to the 1934 courthouse did not contain court facilities but the building is usually included in the post cards.</text>

                <text>Post card of Post Office in Mobile, Ala. No. 22. No. 17691. U. S. Court House and Custom House at 113 St. Joseph Street. This is Mobile's most handsome building; it occupies a space of 116 ft. x 160 feet. The construction work was begun August, 1914, and completed September, 1916. The building is two stories high and fireproof, the exterior is Alabama white marble, while the screen work, boxes, etc. are bronze. There are very elaborate decorations throughout the building, the gold leaf decorations alone costing approximately $2,500. The heating system is the latest, thermostat controlled.
