It was razed in 1979 to make way for affordable housing as the St. James Residence. It was used as a post office and government offices, but it was never used as a courthouse. West Palm Beach is a modern city, metropolitan and cosmopolitan enough to offer every facility, accommodation and amusement, yet lacking the roar and struggle of the great city. No. 71697. 500 Orange Avenue, Built in 1935 as a post office as part of the WPA program. The roof was a popular point for viewing street events such as the Cattleman's Parade. Several high security trials were held. Windows in the judge's chambers were replaced with bullet resistant glass. The postmaster's private entrance became the judge's emergency entrance.
