One of the most pretentious Post Office Buildings in the United States. Floor space totals more than 5 acres and will have some 200 Federal office units. Located next to the Spring Street Terminal, mail was transferred by a railroad network. It later became a Federal office building although never an "official" courthouse.  The Court of Appeals relocated to this location from March 20, 1985, until March 16, 1987, for renovations. The US District Court of the N.D. Ga. met here until 1910. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals met here from 1902 until 1910. It became City Hall in 1910. This imposing structure served as city hall for nearly twenty years. It was so solidly built that the first company hired to raze it actually went out of business before completing the job. No. G-25. No. E-6017. 121 Spring St., SE. The Post Office was enlarged in 1936 when the four story Federal Building and courthouse annex was built. The Post Office moved in 1967. The two buildings, including the connecting building between them, now constitute the federal courthouse. It was placed on the National Register on Jan. 24, 1974.
