It was built in the Spanish Mediterranean Revival style and the architect was Harry M. Griffin. The new post office is built of Florida Key Stone in Spanish-Renaissance architecture. The lobby is of Tennessee marble and faces the mile-long Riverfront Park. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on Jun. 30, 1988.
