No. 67327. Inscription reads "Classic outdoor post office, First Street. Constructed of Fla. travertine rock. The gem of American Architecture lures people from all over the world to study its beauty. Here citizens obtain their mail out of doors the year 'round." After the post office moved in 1965, U.S. District Judge George W. Whitehurst worked for the next two years to make it Fort Myers' first federal building and courthouse. In 1984 it was named the George W. Whitehurst Federal Building and United States Courthouse.
