On October 9, 1914 the property on the corner of Church &amp; Possell (later renamed Monument) was purchased by the federal government for $5000. On July 3, 1930 Congress passed a bill for the construction of federal buildings and $80,000 was allocated for construction of a post office in Kissimmee, FL. Construction started on March 27, 1930 and ended on February 25, 1932. The post office was dedicated on February 22, 1932 (Washington's birthday) and remained a post office until a new one was built in 1980 on Oak Street. This building was sold to Alan Helman in 1980 and to Sam Ackley in 1989. The building today is known as the Monument Building. </p></text>
