Court House to Right. No. NT-1. No. E-6483. Thomasville, situated on a ridge 273 feet above sea level, in southwest Georgia is only 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. This city enjoys the distinction of being an original winter and health resort, as in the early 1880's many people started coming here for recreation and health. The City of Roses slogan is given due to many streets being bordered with roses. It was constructed in 1915 in the Beaux-Arts style and housed the Post Office until 1962, then it became the public library. The Court house is pictured and it was built in 1858 and is the Thomas County Courthouse. It is located on North Broad Street. The U.S. District Court judges for the Middle District of GA stopped holding federal court and bankruptcy hearings there in 2007 due to the deterioration of the federal courthouse.
