Description

Post Card of the Prospectus of the US Post Office and Court House, Birmingham, ALA. No. A-60328. The proposed new Post Office and Court House is to be located on Fifth Ave., and Nineteenth Street and will cover space appx. 200 by 400 sq. ft. and something less than 200,000 sq. ft. of floor space. Began construction May 1, 1917 and is to be completed March 1919. This building will be of fire proof construction throughout. Exterior will be of Georgia Marble. The total cost with furnishings will be $1,000,000. The corner stone was laid by the Grand Lodge of Alabama, A.F. and A.M. May 15, 1918.
